The Manchester City bandwagon didn’t take too long to get into gear this term. In fact, it was probably at the wrong time for Pep guardiola’s team that has recorded back-toback 5-0 victories in their Premier League matches.
A trip to Leicester is unlikely to provide quite such easy pickings for the Premier League champions but they head to the King Power Stadium as red-hot 4/7 favourites to come away with maximum points.

Gabriel Jesus has been a bright star in the first half of the season (one goal, three assists), so it would be unfortunate if Ederson, the Brazilian FA’s goalkeeper, is prevented from participating in this fixture. The situation is still to be resolved. City don’t lack attacking options, especially since they are likely to welcome back Phil Foden and Kevin de Bruyne from injury. That’s not good news.
City have been very impressive at the other end. Strong defense was the key to last season’s title bid. That has continued through 2021/22, despite the loss on their opening day. Guardiola’s side give up 0.51xGA per game, which could spell trouble for a Leicester City team that is struggling to create big chances despite winning two of three Premier League matches.
Despite taking six point, Brendan Rodgers’ team have been outperformed so far on xG by all three oppositions (even Norwich City). They are averaging 0.95 xGF per match and if they fail to improve their attacks’ fluency, they could be in serious trouble Saturday.
Manchester City is not a good bet at 4/7, except if they are going into an account. The formbook however suggests that they might be capable of collecting all three points without conceding. This makes the 37/20 about Man City to be the play.
Leicester: Jannik Vestergaard, defender, and Jonny Evans, are training hard to improve their fitness for Saturday’s match against Manchester City. Evans (foot), Vestergaard (1st knee), are being monitored prior to the champions visit.
Ademola Lookman, the summer signing, could make Leicester debut. Ricardo Pereira hamstring and Ryan Bertrand will likely be available. Ayoze Perez is still suspended.
Manchester City: If Gabriel Jesus, the striker, and Ederson, the goalkeeper, are permitted to play at King Power Stadium, we’ll let you know. Several Premier League players, including Jesus and Ederson, have been suspended from FIFA for five days.
Kevin De Bruyne is back in training and might make an appearance, but Phil Foden (foot) will be too late.Zack Steffen is no longer in the game after a coronavirus test came back positive.
- After being defeated 4-1 by West Ham, Leicester won 1-2 against Norwich in their third Premier League match.
- This is the second game in a three-game suspension for Ayoze Perez, the attacking midfielder. With four defenders uncertain or unavailable for the Foxes, the injury problem continues.
- The second consecutive victory of the Premier League against Arsenal is a great response to Tottenham’s defeat on the opening weekend. However, they have been defeated by Leicester this season in the Community Shield.
- This means that Pep Guardiola is unable to call on Gabriel Jesus and Ederson, both of whom are Brazilian nationals. The COVID-19 virus has infected Zack Steffen while he was on foreign assignment. They have begun training, but it might be too late for Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne.
When you consider Man City’s goalkeeper crisis Leicester will be hoping to capitalize on their chances of winning a third match in four against the Premier League champions in all competitions. Leicester’s game against Guardiola has been a success, with Vardy scoring a hat trick against them. However, the Foxes have problems to contend with, including a backline plagued by injury absences. This will make it a tough contest against the likes Jack Grealish, Ferran Torres, and Phil Foden, who could be either on the bench or in the starting line-up. It is expected that Leicester and Man City will both prioritise attacking over defense here. This may make for a highly entertaining match that sees both sides score.
